BEATLES TRIBUTE BAND – LIVERPOOL LEGENDS DRAWS BIGGEST CROWD IN 30 YEARS OF SUNFEST

Beatles Tribute Band – Liverpool Legends Draws Biggest Crowd in 30 Years of Sunfest

“We had more than we have ever had.”

The major attraction was Saturday night’s headliner, the Liverpool Legends Beatles Tribute Band out of Branson, Mo., which drew a crowd of around 4,000 strong, said Wilson.

This year, show organizers moved the food vendors away from their regular locations at the main stage to accommodate what they anticipated would be larger than usual crowds.

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. –

This year’s SunFest may have been one of the festival’s best seasons, according to event organizers.

“We estimate we had around 30,000,” SunFest board member Bo Wilson told 2NEWS of the number of drawn over the course of the first weekend June to what has been called “Oklahoma’s Biggest Outdoor Picnic.”

“That was strategic,” Wilson said.

The three-day festival also featured more than two dozen food vendors, an arts and crafts section vendors selling everything from paintings to jewelry, kid-friendly spaces offering face painting and other activities for children, and a variety of rides. The festival also hosted a car show.

Wilson told 2NEWS the festival brought the organizers around $20,000 — around $2,000 more than last year. The money collected will pay for this year’s festival with the remainder going toward next year.

“In 30 years, we have never lost money. We don’t make any. We kind of spend within our means,” he said, saying SunFest is a non-profit organization.

Looking back on the recent SunFest, the 10-year veteran of the festival said this season was his favorite.

He recounted what he said to a fellow board member as he looked at the crowds gathered to listen to the Liverpool Legends Beatles Tribute Band Saturday evening.

“I said, This is great. You can see people are having fun and smiling … and that is what you want to have,” Wilson told 2NEWS.

“It’s a good way to do 30 years.”
