Liverpool Legends Beatles Tribute Band to Perform with Local High School Students
SARASOTA – Louise (Lou) Harrison, sister of legendary Beatle George Harrison and founder of the nonprofit Help Keep Music Alive, brings the Liverpool Legends—“The Complete Beatles Experience”— to three area high schools for interactive performances with students in October. Louise Harrison, an advocate for the importance of music education for young people, is partnering with USFSM’s PAInT Center (Partnerships for Arts-Integrated Teaching) to promote the value of the arts as an enriching learning experience that improves achievement outcomes for all students.
The Grammy nominated Liverpool Legends, who have had their own production in Branson since 2006, perform songs spanning the full career of the Beatles through the solo years. They have been praised for their precise attention to musical detail, using costume changes, vintage instruments and special effects. The school performances promise to engage students as a dynamic part of the entertainment.
“The work of the schools in integrating the arts is critical to ensuring all students are given opportunities to learn,” said Terry Osborn, Ph.D., dean and professor, College of Education. “Our Center for Partnerships for Arts-Integrated Teaching (PAInT) is taking a stand and highlighting a particular asset of our region: our artistic and cultural strengths.” In support of local students, proceeds from the sale of advertisements in the evenings’ programs will benefit the high schools.
The schedule for the Liverpool Legends concerts is as follows:
Manatee High School, 902 33rd St. Court West, Bradenton, FL—October 3
North Port High School, 6400 West Price Blvd., North Port—October 4
Booker High School, 3201 N. Orange Ave., Sarasota—October 6
All concerts begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 and available at: www.liverpoollegends.com.
